LOWER BURRELL K-9 DIVISION
Meet Benny, Lower Burrell's second K-9 Dog, who is supervised by his partner and handler, Ptl. Derek Kotecki. Benny is a male German Shepherd, 5 years old, weighing 110 pounds. He was trained at the Pittsburgh Police K-9 training facility and has logged 580 hours of instruction. Benny was trained in Patrol (obedience, tracking, building searches, aggression/apprehension), and Narcotics (trained to locate and indicate on marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and derivatives. Benny patrols in a specially equipped police car and works all shifts with his handler. Benny's off duty hours are spent with his handler where he resides.
