Real Estate Taxes

Lower Burrell Real Estate Taxes are based on a millage basis. In Lower Burrell, the millage rate is 24.75 mills for real estate in 2021. You can calculate your tax by multiplying.02475 times your assessed valuation from Westmoreland County. Westmoreland County Real Estate Taxes are also based on a millage basis. You can locate their rate on their website.

Note

City and county Real Estate taxes are mailed out on March 1 while School Real Estate taxes are mailed out on August 1. Sewage and Recycling bills have been combined, and are mailed each quarter on:

  • March 15th
  • June 15th
  • September 15th
  • December 15th

Local Services Tax

The Local Services Tax is $52 per year after a gross wage of $12,000.

Per Capita Taxes

Per Capita Tax is a flat rate levied upon each adult, 18 years and older, within the taxing district. Per Capita Tax is mailed out on July 1st. This tax has no connection with employment, income, voting rights or any other factor except residence within the community.

In Lower Burrell, the City has a $5 Per Capita Tax and Burrell School District has a $10 Per Capita Tax. Exemptions are available through the Tax Office; please contact the Tax Office to determine your eligibility.
